Scientific Advice for Food Exporters, Importers and Shipping Lines

Cargo Inspection Service offers technical and scientific advice for exporters, importers and shipping lines regarding the optimal quality/condition required for the marine transportation of foods.  Our service includes advice regarding the best methods of packaging, palletization and stowage; temperature monitoring during stuffing or stripping reefer/dry containers. Also, in the special preparation of containers/holds for cargo transportation in order to prevent or mitigate condensation damage in transit and infestation claims.

Also, Cargo Inspection Service offers pre-shipment inspection services for exportation products and surveys of importation products, evaluating and supervising the following aspects:

      • Physical evaluation of the unit:

Preparation and cleaning.
Infestation check.
Review of PTI (Pre-trip Inspection) label and the cargo label (refrigerated cargo).
Review of refrigerated cargo parameters (set point, evaporator defrost interval, air exchange, relative humidity, gas composition with controlled atmospheres).

      • Product condition (ripening, presence of diseases, physiological disorders and defects in fruits and vegetables) according to  statistical sampling methods.
      • Cargo sampling for laboratory analysis  if required. Sealing, identification, custody and traceability of the samples to be delivered to a local laboratory (upon request).
      • Presence of defective packaging: torn, stained, deformed, beaten, poorly closed.
      • Product temperature statistics at the moment of stuffing or stripping.
      • Evaluation of packaging, palletizing, stowing and lashing in containers and their incidence in air flow within the unit (reefers).
      • Revision of Quantity Parameters: type, number of packages, weights and marks according to the packing list.
